Exhaust Systems
United provides complete and thorough cleaning, degreasing, and fire-retardant services to practically eliminate the unique and dangerous conditions associated with exhaust air systems. Of the thousands of accounts that we have serviced for over 45 years, we have never had a fire occur in an air system that was serviced according to our recommendations.

The problems
Exhaust air systems, by their inherent design intentions, accumulate foreign matter in a fairly short period of operation. This accumulated dirt, grease, and debris can, and often is, easily ignited by a spark from smoking materials, an overheated motor, a cooking surface flame-up, or other combustion sources. Additionally, dirt-restricted exhaust systems don't do the job of removing foul air, no matter how hard they work.

The Conditions
Exhaust air ducts in kitchens, laundries, laboratories, or toilet facilities are intended to carry away fumes, heat, odor, and cooking vapors. In so doing, these systems also carry some of the materials present in the area served. In the case of kitchens, these systems remove air laden with cooking oil and grease; in laundries, heavy concentrations of lint travel in the air stream; and general exhaust systems carry a combination of both, plus general dirt and debris. Much of this foreign material carried in the air stream settles into the ductwork, fan chambers, and on control dampers and plenums. It then remains lodged in the duct passages and restricts the air flow in ever-greater degrees as accumulation increases, and awaits only the source of ignition to become a serious and deadly hazard.

The Service
United's cleaning service removes grease, dirt, lint, and other foreign materials from any type exhaust system interiors. Different equipment, detergents, and materials are used, dependent upon the foreign matter in the system. All accessible points of the system are included and we guarantee to remove 97% of contaminants. Cleanout openings into ductwork are provided, and repaired similar to original, after service is completed; thereby facilitating our "direct contact" method of cleaning.

The scope
The intake canopies, or hoods, are cleaned (and painted if desired). All grills and registers are removed, washed, and reinstalled. Ductwork interiors are vacuum cleaned, scraped or washed as conditions require. Fan drums and housings and exhaust ports are cleaned on interiors. If the system is one that accumulates grease or oil a fire-retardant compound can be applied to interior surfaces with pneumatic applicator. Grease extractors and filters are washed and reinstalled, if desired.

The methods
We perform our service at a time of day or night that causes least disruption to your normal operations - at no change in service price. We protect the work areas with suitable drop cloth materials and clean up when we leave. If the service requires more than one work shift to complete our cleaning procedures, the system is left fully operational for normal usage between work shifts. We supply all labor, equipment, materials, and require only the usage of your water and electricity to perform our service.

The results
The fire hazard is nearly eliminated and the system now operates efficiently and unrestricted. Energy savings are realized since the system does not have to work as hard or as long to accomplish its work of foul air removal. A service report is supplied to you, if desired, upon completion of service.
